It’s beginning to look a lot like August

Did you step outside yesterday?

If you did, you probably had to remind yourself it is December. If you didn’t you probably had to turn your air conditioners up a notch or two.

As I type this, it’s a balmy 77 degrees in Demopolis. Santa’s going to have to trade that red velvet suit for a pair of Bermuda shorts and Ray-Bans.

The 10-day forecast for Christmas Eve shows highs in the 60s. That means Santa will be putting the top down on his sleigh this year.

I remember one Christmas back when I was in high school. It was abnormally hot. It wasn’t warm. It was hot.

I’d never dug a pair of shorts out of the drawer in December for Christmas dinner before, but I did that year.

It may not feel much like Christmas, but it’s here and there’s still time to get those letters to Santa in before Christmas.

Just drop Ole Saint Nick an e-mail at santa@demopolistimes.com.

He checks that address every night before he goes to bed, shortly after he checks on his 401(k) portfolio. If you’d rather write a letter out the old fashioned way, you’d better hurry.

We’ll be sending him a special pullout section of the Demopolis Times Wednesday and we need the letter by Monday to get it there in time.

Time’s not up, but we’re getting close. So get those e-mails and letters going.
