Bomb threat closed John Essex
Marengo County officials have closed John Essex School for the remainder of the day as the investigation into a bomb threat continues. The school will reopen tomorrow morning.
A note was found taped to one of the school doors at approximately 7 a.m. this morning, prompting administrators to contact law enforcement.
Superintendent Luke Hallmark declined to elaborate on the contents of the note.
Students were evacuated to the football field.
The missed day will be made up Feb. 17, which was originally scheduled as an in-service day.
