The Demopolis junior varsity moved to a 2-2 record Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Paul Bryant.
“We’ve got to have a lot more games like that,” DHS JV coach Russell Bedingfield said. “We played well, didn’t have a lot of mistakes.”
Thomas Cramer led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs. He also initiated a 5-4-3 double play that helped the Tigers wriggle off the hook and away from a potentially big Paul Bryant inning.
Chris Adams and Deonte Washington each scored two runs in the contest. Alex Sturdivant added one.
“It’s like night and day from last year,” Bedingfield said of his players. “They come ready to practice, ready to play. They’re hungry. We need more like them.”
Sturdivant anchored the effort on the mound, pitching four and two-thirds innings while recording four strikeouts and allowing only four hits. Bill Holemon retired the only batter he faced to close the game.
The junior varsity plays again Thursday night when it hosts Northridge.
