POTW: Michelle Pritchett

It isn’t a stretch to mark down the last seven days of Michelle Pritchett’s life in the “Best Week Ever” category.
The Marengo Academy senior stepped into the circle Thursday night against the vaunted Tuscaloosa Academy team.
Sure. It’s a team that the Lady Longhorns had often encountered and never defeated over the last few years. So there was reason to be nervous in the season-opener. Apparently, Pritchett didn’t get the memo that her Class AA team wasn’t supposed to beat the perennial AAA champion. And if she did, she clearly disagreed with it. The MA senior hurler twirled four innings of no-hit ball, striking out five batters along the way. Her flirtation with perfection was interrupted only by an intentional walk issued in the first inning. She recorded the no-hitter in the timed tournament game. But, more importantly, she got her team off to an incredible start to the season with one of the biggest regular season wins it has had in recent memory.
Then, as if shutting down TA wasn’t enough, Pritchett made her week a little more memorable Friday when she officially signed a scholarship offer from Southern Union.
To complete her three-day stretch, Prtichett struck out six batters over three innings of work while picking up a 14-2 win over Patrician Academy Saturday.
It’s hard to argue with that kind of production. After a run like that, it’s also hard for the Player of the Week spotlight to shine anywhere else.
