Demopolis (3-4-2) used a strong second half effort to pull away and beat Central-Tuscaloosa 3-0 Tuesday.
“The second half they picked it up a whole lot,” Demopolis head coach Peter Keen said.
“That second half was against the wind.”
Demopolis picked up an unassisted first half goal when Trent McDowell connected on a corner kick to put the Tigers up 1-0.
“I was concerned about that; only up 1-0 with the wind against us,” Keen said of his team’s circumstances coming out of halftime.
In the second half, Keith Junious and Spence Overstreet each beat the Central defense for unassisted goals to ice the game.
“The defense did a great job, kept the ball on the other side of the field,” Keen said of his defense’s effort.
The Tigers are scheduled to travel to Hillcrest Friday before jumping back into area play Tuesday.
“Out of the nine teams we’ve played, eight of them we’ve held the ball 90 percent of the time,” Keen said.
“We’ve just had a hard time finishing. (Tuesday) we did finish. Hopefully that will be a turnaround for us the rest of the way.”
