Westside Elementary School’s “Tiger Rally” helped to raise more than $16,000 for the school. Individual classrooms also got 10 percent of whatever it raised.
On Friday, prizes were awarded to the top fund-raising students. Two students, second-grader Parker Hallmark and kindergartener Jaylon Nelson, tied for first place, having raised $400 apiece. The school opted to give them each their own first-place prize, a Nintendo DS.
First-grader Will Smith won the second-place prize, a $75 Wal-Mart gift card, while first-grader Owen Pruett won the third-place prize, a $50 Wal-Mart gift card.
The top fund-raisers in each grade also won prizes, with each of them winning a CD player with headphones. Taking home those prizes were second-grader Stevie Fields, first-grader Maggie Strickland, kindergartener Miley Lee and pre-kindergartener Browder Braswell.
All funds raised during “Tiger Rally” will benefit Westside Elementary School.
