James Goodman

James Alexander Goodman, age 96, of Marbury, formerly of Forkland, died at his home on Saturday, March 28, 2009.
He was a former resident of Montgomery, Forkland, Greensboro, Eutaw and Moundville, He lived in Montgomery for 44 years.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 31, at Southern Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Ennis and the Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nellie Bracie Hinkle Goodman; his parents, Thomas L. and Adeline B. Goodman; a sister, Flossie Mills; 10 brothers, Woodrow, Benny, Edgar, Lee, Lawson, Grier, Harvey, Bascum, Early and Virgil; and two grandsons, Donald Richards Jr. and James Richards Sr.
He is survived by three daughters, Georgia A. Goodman of Marbury, Ruby N. Goodman and Patricia G. (Rob) Goodman; one son, James M. (Diana) Goodman of Montgomery; two brothers, Will H. (Eunice) Goodman and Henry (Dot) Goodman of Northport; a niece, Charlene H. Latham of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Gloria A. Richards, George A. (Suzanne) Richards, Michael (Kim) Goodman and Jennifer (Andy) Stanfield; seven great-granddaughters, Leah (Mike) Martin, Savannah Creel, Shelby Cooper, Denim Garrett and Amy, Emily and Ashley Stanfield; seven great-grandsons, D.J. (Amanda) Richards, Ricky Richards, James Richards Jr., Chris Richards, Brandon Richards, Jeremy Berry and Mathew Goodman; one great-great-granddaughter, Clarity Grace Richards; one great-great-grandson, Neal Richards IV; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Pallbearers were Bill Shelby, Joe Rogers, Bill Teate, Michael Goodman, George Richards and Pete Dorough. Honorary pallbearers were the great-grandsons, John Sides, Pat Johnson of Montgomery and Brandon Bracknell of Marbury.
