Schools dismissing early due to weather
Every school in Marengo County — including those in the Demopolis, Linden and Marengo County school systems and Marengo Academy — will dismiss today (Thursday) at 1 p.m. in advance of the impending storm system making its way across the Southeast.
Day-care centers are also closing today at 1 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather.
At 10:45 a.m., the storm front was at the Mississippi state line at Louisiana and Arkansas and moving east-northeast. The National Weather Service predicts rain in Demopolis between 2 and 3 p.m. with storm conditions beginning around 4 p.m. The NWS expects severe weather that could produce large hail and a possible tornado. People are encouraged to monitor TV stations that have local weather updates.
