Just before 1 p.m. this afternoon (Friday), a bomb threat was reported by A.L. Johnson High School. Emergency agencies reported to the scene.
This bomb threat is the second one aimed at a Marengo County school in the last two months, as a bomb threat was reported by John Essex High School on Feb. 9.
“We have gone through our emergency communication plan,” said Marengo County Schools superintendent Luke Hallmark. “We have all of the students away from the school, out at the football field. We notified the sheriff’s department, and we’re taking all of the precautions that we take, whether it’s a hoax or the real thing. We’re not taking any chances.”
Hallmark said they would keep the students on the football field until the school buses arrived.
More information will be reported when it is made available.
