Curves for Women concluded its annual food drive for Harriet’s House, raising more than 500 pounds of food. The food was donated to Harriet’s House director Susanna Naisbett on Tuesday.
“Our Curves members were nice enough to make the contributions,” said Curves co-owner Cindy Reeves. “We were shooting for 500 pounds, and we got 513.25 pounds!”
Reeves said the food drive lasted about four weeks. The drive will benefit Harriet’s House, a shelter for victims of domestic abuse and their children that serves five counties in this region.
“This food will be stored at the shelter,” said Naisbett. “It will go straight to the pantries, and they will use it to prepare meals..”
People wanting to make their own donations to Harriet’s House can call the shelter at 289-8988 or mail cash donations to Harriet’s House, P.O. Box 569, Demopolis, AL 36732.
