Don’t forget the meaning of Easter

Tomorrow, countless families will gather around the dinner table and huddle themselves around a ham, macaroni and cheese or some other dishes for a large feast.

Children will line the lawns of the neighborhood in search of brightly colored eggs with baskets chock-full of chocolate and jelly beans in tow.

The commercialization of Easter is part of what makes the day so much fun, but lest we not forget the true meaning of the sacred day.

Easter is a spring festival that celebrates a central event of the Christian faith: the resurrection of Christ three days after his death by crucifixion.

Regardless of your faith or your beliefs, Easter and what it stands for is an important part of Christianity. And it’s an event that should not go unrecognized.

We encourage you to enjoy this holiday with your friends and family and the church family of your choice as you take part in your Easter traditions.

We wish each of you a very Happy Easter.
