This Friday, Marengo County will celebrate its annual Relay for Life event at River Field here in Demopolis.
It will kick off with the survivor dinner at 5 p.m., then the opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.
After that, there will be performances, contests, snacks and all kinds of fun events to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
This year’s theme is “The Cancer-Free TV Network,” and teams have been raising funds and awareness for the last few months.
On Friday, those teams will be able to get out and have some fun with the theme and celebrate their efforts in the fight against cancer.
It is never to late to make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is not only a fund-raising event, but it can also serve as an opportunity for people to make a donation as well.
We encourage everyone to take advantage of the Relay for Life, to take part in it and enjoy the evening. Cheer on the cancer survivors and reflect on the lives of those you knew who died from cancer.
The night is expected to be full of fun with the fellowship and excitement that comes when people come together for a common cause.
We thank everyone who contributed to putting on Relay for Life, who donated material and money to help the American Cancer Society put on its annual show.
We also thank everyone who made a donation to the cause. Many, many people in Marengo County have already died from cancer, and your donations will go a long way.
Whether you gave a few bucks or a sizable donation, take pride in the donation that you made to help fund cancer research, education and awareness. The more we know about cancer, the more we can fight it. No matter the amount, every donation is another step in finding a cure.
