Get outside and enjoy what we have here

If the rain holds off on Saturday, it will be a great day to get out.
George Spence Day festivities will be going on at the Demopolis Sports-Plex. The day honoring one of Demopolis’s founding fathers in youth sports will feature baseball and softball from Demopolis teams as well as teams from out of town.
The sixth-graders’ tour of Foscue State Park on Thursday (see the story on Page A-2) was inspirational. We all should take some time and walk on the trails provieded at Foscue Creek Park on the west part of town. The walking trails provide a scenic tour along the creeks and lakes that our area has to offer. When you get tired of walking, pull up a picnic table and have lunch al fresco. It’s a great way to spend time with your family or by yourself.
Bring the kids to the city landing to just sit and watch the river, play on the playground, have a picnic or just have fun.
There are many things to do here in Demopolis that don’t cost a dime and will help improve your health and general well-being. Take advantage of these things when you can. With sunlight, fresh air and lots of wide-open spaces to have fun in, it would be a shame to let them all go to waste.
