If you think you’ve got the ugliest living room in Demopolis, now’s your chance to earn the undisputed title.

The Demopolis location of Larry Walters Furniture, in conjunction with Rhyne Home Services, is giving away a free $10,000 living room makeover to the person voted as having Demopolis’ ugliest living room.

“A slow economy shouldn’t stand in the way of the living room of your dreams,” said Mary McAlpine-Rhyne, a professional interior designer employed by Larry Walters Furniture.

“This kind of prize is something that can completely change the look of your house and even improve the value of your home. It’s life-changing.”

The winner will receive a complete living room designed by Rhyne, who will meet with each contestant and design a space based on that person’s needs and style. An allowance of $10,000, including labor, will be granted to the winner.

“If the winner stays within the allowances for each category, the living room makeover won’t cost them a thing,” Rhyne said. “If they go over, they’ll just have to pay the overage.”

The winner will be determined through a vote of readers of the Demopolis Times. The vote will begin on Wednesday, May 13.

A ballot including photos of the top entries will be included in that day’s edition. Ballots can be cast at a handful of select local retailers who will be listed on the ballot.

“Photos of your living room are required with the entry form,” Rhyne said. “We need to see your space so we know what we may be working with, and the voters need to see it so they can determine who needs it the most.”
