Albert Roof

Albert A. “Bucky” Roof, age 79, of Forkland passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
He was a native of Yazoo City, Miss., and a resident of Forkland for 50 years. For the last three years, he resided in a Veterans Administration nursing home. He was a retired commercial fisherman and served a combined 23 years and five months in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard.
Graveside funeral services with military honors were held on Friday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at the Phillips Cemetery in Forkland. The family received friends at his home in Forkland on Friday from 8 a.m. to the time of the service. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directed the services.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris.
He is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Hammack of Gallion; three grandchildren, John (Garah) Hammack of Warner Robbins, Ga., Chris Hammack of Camden and Shawn (Crystal) Hammack of North Pole, Alaska; two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Timarah Hammack; and a stepson, Aaron Hayes.
