On March 2-3, the Demopolis Middle School Beta Club attended the Junior Beta Club Alabama state convention and competition at The Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Montgomery
All students from the DMS Beta Club attending the convention participated in competitions ranging from arts and crafts to scholastic competitions.
The Demopolis club won second place in the T-shirt design for the state of Alabama. It was designed by DMS Beta Club students and professionally reproduced. The T-shirt had to follow the state theme, “Lights! Camera! Beta! Scene 75!”
As sponsors, Mrs. Dana Freeman and Mrs. Meggin Mayben are proud of this accomplishment because this was the club’s first time to attend the competition.
Madelyn Couch, a seventh-grader, won first place in the state in the homemade jewelry competition. Other DMS students entered the photography competition, wreath making, sketching and painting as well as four different scholastic competitions and the Quiz Bowl.
Demopolis was well represented at this year’s state convention, and the club is already making plans for next year’s competition.
