The Jones Recreation Center pool will open on Monday, June 1, for the summer, offering swimming lessons and free swims.

Lifeguards for the pool will be Eric King, Derick King, Richard Bell, Shenique Collier and Jocelyn Thurman. The director of the pool is coach Ricky Richardson.

An open swim will be Mondays through Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $1, and family packages are available. Concessions will also be available at the pool in mornings and afternoons.

Swimming lessons for age 6 to 18 will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Swimming lessons for adults will be Mondays through Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The charge for swimming lessons will be 25 cents each day.

Lifeguard training will be held at the pool on Fridays from 9 to noon and on rainy days. American Red Cross training will be taught.

Coach Richardson said he would like to invite church youth groups to come swim on Sunday evenings. For more information, call the Jones Recreation Center Pool at 289-0533.
