Player of the Week: Antonio Landrum

It was a pretty good week for Sweet Water’s Antonio Landrum. The Bulldog stud had a strong showing at a tryout Lawson State Wednesday. He was named runner-up for the second ever Athlete of the Year award on Saturday.
Then, Landrum did was he always does when he went to the Lions’ Club All-Sta Game in Chilton County Monday. He performed.
Admittedly, the athletic Landrum did not perform at the plate as he would have liked in the game.
His 0-for-3 day is far below his usual offensive standards that saw him score 48 runs while helping lead the Bulldogs to the semi-finals in 2009.
But his defense proved strong enough to get him the recognition he needed in order to become one of only 16 players who will advance past Clanton and onto the next round of all-star competition in Birmingham this weekend.
It is there where Landrum will likely have the attention of collegiate coaches and scouts. And it is there where Landrum will likely do what he always does on big stages; perform.
