Store expansion a sign of area health

It’s not often that you get to crack open your morning newspaper and read something about economic expansion – at least not in recent months.
But lo and behold there it is on today’s front page of your Demopolis Times; right there in black and white.
Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers is preparing to move to its new, larger location on U.S. Highway 80.
Store manager Stacy Carroll said the store should open on Saturday, June 6, what the company is calling a “soft opening,” as opposed to the grand opening featuring the ribbon cutting, which will take place on Friday, June 19.
The chain has called Demopolis home for nearly 10 years and in that decade they’ve decided to expand to a larger store.
You read so much about foreclosures, bankruptcy and doom and gloom.
It’s good news to both hear and see for a store not only be able to expand but choose to do so in today’s economic condition.
This one stores expansion has lead to increased opportunity and jobs in Demopolis and it will undoubtedly help bolster the shopping complex which up until recently housed only Demopolis Marketplace.
This sends a loud and clear signal that Demopolis s a good place to do business and that we’re glad to have it.
