It’s the first week of June but you’d never know it by looking down the halls at Westside Elementary School.

This week marked the beginning of the kindergarten readiness program, summer school and enrichment camp, all of which filled the school that otherwise would be shuttered at the beginning of summer.

Westside principal Connie Brown said the readiness program was full for all sessions.

“The pre-kindergartern readiness program is designed to help to children feel comfortable and safe here on campus,” she said. “It prepares the children for learning and working in a group environment, especially those who haven’t been to day care.”
