POTW: Hunter Thrash
Published 9:55 pm Tuesday, June 9, 2009
As all-star time kicks off, players start to pick up their game. The best of the best make it hard to pick out just one solid performer. However, this week’s Player of the Week was able to stand out above everyone else in his first couple of games for the Demopolis 7-8-year-old All-Stars. Hunter Thrash gets this nod this week after helping lead his team to a 48-9 drumming of Sumter County. Monday night, and a follow-up 4-2 game with four RBIs in Tuesday’s loss to Linden. Thrash, who plays first base for the 7-8-year-olds, was big all night, coming up with key hits to keep his team in the ballgame. Even though they fell short Tuesday, he was able to lead his team in RBIs and score twice more to account for six of Demopolis’s seven runs. Thrash was also able to make a big catch in the top of the third to keep his team in the game. So, if you want to see this week’s Player of the Week and his teammates in action, head on out to the Sports-Plex tomorrow night at 6 as they take on Greensboro in their attempt to reach the state tournament.
