There is hot, there is white hot and then there is what Ryan Schroeder was this past week.
In the 12U District 10 tournament Schroeder was a giant at the plate. Helping his squad finish the week having beaten their opponents by a combined score of 87-4.
Out of his 19 at-bats, Ryan had 12 hits. His .632 batting average for the tournament lead his time by nearly 50 points.
Schroeder was not just a singles machine to get such a huge average though. No.
Out of his 12 hits, only four of them were singles. Six doubles and two homeruns allowed Ryan to acquire a 1.263 Slugging percentage for the tournament.
Schroeder was also able to play incredible in the field. Manning his shortstop position, he was like a vacuum, sucking in every ball that came his way.
His manager Rob Pearson says that much of his success comes from his approache to the game.
“He doesn’t let anything affect him while he is out there. He just goes out there and enjoys playing the game,” said Pearson.
It may not be hard to enjoy the kind of hot streak that he and his teammates are going through right now.
Now Ryan and his group have to get refocused and get prepared as they head to Gadsden to try and bring Demopolis its very first Cal Ripken state title.
