Joel C. Dubose

Joel C. DuBose, age 86, of Geneva passed away on June 30, 2009, at the Marengo County Nursing home in Linden.
He was a native of Sweet Water and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The majority of his professional career was spent serving in various managerial positions in the grocery business until he retired at the age of 65.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 6, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Kidd-Robbins Chapel. The Rev. Scott Armstrong officiated. Burial followed at the Geneva Presbyterian Cemetery. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directed the services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Carter DuBose and Sallye E. Swanner “Betty” Dubose; his first wife of 42 years, Violet Knott DuBose; and their daughter, Jody DuBose Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Gray Ray DuBose; two daughters, Darlene J. Rockett and Sarah J. (John) Vice; his former son-in-law and friend, Johnny Rockett; another former son-in-law, Clifford A. Carroll; a sister, Vermelle Cranford; a brother, Bert DuBose; three grandchildren, John E. Vice II, Heather Vice Cohen and Christopher A. Carroll; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Cohen and Carter Carroll; five stepchildren, Yvonne Hill, Patricia R. Ward, Bonnie Faye Webb, Johnny Ray and Nancy Tolbert; nine step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
