POTW: Ryan Morrison

Sometimes the choice of the player of the week can be a daunting one.
This week, we had four teams playing in state tournaments in their respective age classes.
However, it is hard to argue with perfection and this week that is what Ryan Morrison gave to all of those who showed up at Demopolis’ Sports-Plex for the first game of the 10U Cal Ripken State Tournament.
Morrison was able to completely shut down Gilbertown’s 10U squad to the point where Gilbertown was unable to get a person on base.
Out of the 15 batters that Morrison saw, he proved able to fan eight.
Morrison was huge for the 10U team at the plate in its four-game run in the tournament.
Ryan ended his tournament run going 7-for-15 to keep his team in every game in which it played. Those hits were able to give Morrison the tie in the lead for most hits for Demopolis over the tournament.
Morrison was also able to come in against pool leading Theodore and only give up one run to the hot-hitting team in his three innings of work.
That meant that the 10U standout rounded out tournament play with eight innings on the mound and one run allowed and a batting average of .467.
