The newly-formed River City Car and Truck Club is a non-profit organization that works for the benefit of others.
On Monday, it made a $400 donation to Harriet’s House, which works with victims of domestic abuse and their children.
“We choose a business — this time, we chose Harriet’s House,” said organization member Derrick Carter. “We give our proceeds to them. We have 20 members right now, but if anyone wants to be a member, they should contact me at (334) 341-0505.”
The club sponsored a car and truck show on the Fourth of July at the city landing field, with the proceeds benefitting Harriet’s House..
Carter said the group may later sponsor some dances or have other fund-raisers.
Those wanting to make a donation to Harriet’s House can mail it to Harriet’s House, P.O. Box 569, Demopolis, AL 36732. Food donations can be made by calling the shelter at 289-8988 to make arrangements to pick up the food. Smith-Naisbett said there is not a need right now for clothing.
