DFRD, our people all pitch in for Jerry’s kids

Back in July, The Demopolis Times did a story about the Demopolis Fire and Rescue Department passing the boot and collecting $1,500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
On Monday, on WAKA TV-8, this was made public by a representative of the North Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department.
This was the first such effort for DFRD, and chief Ronnie Few said the money was collected within a few hours.
He added that since the turnout was so popular with Demopolis citizens, the department may try to have other fund-raisers like a golf tournament or increase its effort in collecting for MDA and “Jerry’s kids.”
We want to thank everyone who contributed to the MDA, where it was in the fireman’s boot or through the national telethon.
Few said that Demopolis people are a generous group, and praised their enthusiasm for the successful fund-raiser.
We, too, want to praise our citizens and members of the Demopolis Fire and Rescue Department. To take a line from the United Way (another worthwhile organization), thanks to you, it works.
Please continue to give when you can to worthwhile causes. It shows that we are a generous people and that we care for others.
