Thanks for the memories and support

Dear editor, The Times,

On September 29, 2009, The Mustard Seed turns yet another page in its 33-year history. The Mustard Seed began in 1976, when four young, progressive women decided to open a small gift shop on Strawberry Street. I had the good fortune to go to work for Jean Richie in 1983 at The Mustard Seed.

In 1993, with her guidance, help and love I was able to purchase The Mustard Seed.

Ann, Amanda, Emily and Emily B. will remain and look forward to seeing and helping you as always.

To all of you who have supported The Mustard Seed, you truly are our business. Thank you for your friendship, support and confidence all these years. A business is only a storefront with merchandise. A successful business must have friends and community support. I can truly say that I have had both. I sincerely thank you. It has been my pleasure.

Suzanne Stallworth Young officially took over September 29, and I hope you will join with me in welcoming her to our Demopolis business community. She brings with her youth, exuberance, retail experience and a new flare to the business. She is looking forward to meeting you.

Again, many thanks and my very best,

Joy Collins
