Johnnie Banks South, age 88, of Winfield passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis.
A resident of Winfield for most of his life, he had resided in Demopolis since October 2007 and in Southern Oaks Assisted Living Facility since March 2008. He was a retired car salesman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emo Jean Housh South; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Rusty) Nichols of Demopolis; two grandsons, Charlie Nichols and Ryan Nichols; one sister, Annie Ruth Frye of Guin; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Ballew officiating. Burial followed in the Winfield City Cemetery with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing the services.
