The Demopolis Lions Club held its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Demopolis.
“This was our most successful breakfast ever,” said Demopolis club president Allen Bishop. “We sold 350 plates, and that includes plates that we provided to Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home and Southern Oaks Assisted Living Facility.
“The proceeds will go mostly to local projects and some international projects. Those local projects include Demopolis Dixie Youth Baseball, Marengo County’s Junior Miss and the Boy Scouts. We also sponsor the East-West baseball Game in the spring.”
Bishop said that nine people worked at the pancake breakfast and started working at 4:30 a.m.
“We had to get everything ready because we had some early deliveries,” Bishop said.
“We opened the drive-through service from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and had a pretty steady crowd come through.
“We were all pretty tired by the time it was over,” he said, “but it was a good kind of tired.”
