The Tombigbee Healthcare Authority, the West Alabama Nutrition Center and Colonial Haven Care and Rehab of Greensboro sponsored a health fair on Oct. 15 at Rooster Hall in downtown Demopolis.
The fair featured booths from several organizations who were on hand to let local people know the many kinds of health services offered in this area.
“We realized there was need for the general population to be aware of exactly what services are offered to the community,” said Wendy Gagliano of Colonial Haven Health Care and Rehab. “That includes any health care service, like medical care, diabetes supplies — anything like that.
“I’m very pleased with the turnout. The weather held up, and we have had a great turnout. We are planning on having this regularly. We normally have these in other counties, but I don’t know if anyone has ever done one in the Demopolis area. We have such a large population here of people who go elsewhere for health care services, and who aren’t aware of what we actually have here.”
Door prizes were given out, and each booth had information to give to the attendees, from hospice care to aging issues and home health care.
