The Demopolis High School tennis team will host a two-person golf tournament Saturday, Oct. 3 at The Ravine Golf Course.
The event will be the first of its kind for the Tiger tennis program.
“We just decided we needed to do something,” coach Kyle Williams said. “We don’t have a lot of money to work with and we were looking at ways to raise money for the team.”
Tee off will be at 8 a.m. with check-in time beginning an hour before.
Entry fee is $100 per team and includes green fees, a shared cart door prizes and awards.
“We’d like to have 36 teams,” Williams said of the tournament’s hopes. “We’re just playing this first one by ear but we’re hoping for 36.”
Mulligans can be purchased for $5 each, two per team, at registration. There will also be a Closest to the Pin and a Longest Drive contest.
Golf carts are available but limited and you may bring your own.
“The number of teams we can havereally just depends on the number of carts we have available,” Williams said. “If participants that have a personal cart can bring theirs, that will really help us out.”
Awards will be given for first, second and third places.
Applications can be found at the Ravine and deadline to enter is Sept. 25. All proceeds go toward the Demopolis High School Tennis team. For more information, call Coach Williams at 205-412-7983.
