The Super 6 State Championships in Tuscaloosa will host a “Walk of Champions” for each team this week. The festivity plays right into the routine of the Demopolis Tigers, who have had a “Tiger Walk” in each of the last two playoff weeks.
The walk is designed to acknowledge and encourage the high school athletes who have reached the pinnacle of their level of play.
Fans of each team are encouraged to be present on University Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, just outside Bryant-Denny Stadium as their respective players arrive by bus. Fans present will join with cheerleaders and band members to honor teams as the head into Bryant-Denny.
“We’ve had it the last couple weeks when we’ve played at home in the playoffs,” Demopolis head coach Tom Causey said of “Tiger Walk,” a similar event in which the Tigers have participated during the playoffs. “It gives us a little boost right there for sure. It’d be nice for us to see some familiar faces when we get off the bus and get ready to go win the state (championship). That’s for sure.”
The Tigers, who are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Russellville, are listed as the home team and are due to arrive at the stadium at 4:55 p.m.
Fans wishing to participate in the event should be on the University Boulevard side of Bryant-Denny Stadium by that time.
