Jeremy Wallace named Player of the Week

Don’t be scared citizens. Despite evidence to the contrary, Jeremy Wallace is but a mortal man.
Granted, that may be hard to believe when he is driving the lane, absorbing considerable physical abuse and still finishing at the rim.
It can be easy to forget his mortality when he is draining treys or blowing past defenders to the tune of 19 points in an eight-minute quarter. But rest assured, Jeremy Wallace is still human.
The Demopolis senior point guard was nothing short of electric Friday night against Chilton County. With his team facing the unforgiving stigma of going winless in region play, Wallace took over the game early and often. His 19-point first quarter propelled Demopolis to an early lead it never relinquished en route to a 70-56 win over CCHS that forced a third-place tie in the region and a coin flip to determine seeding for the area tournament.
By night’s end, Wallace had compiled a line that featured a game high 33 points. He also had four assists on the evening, a number that would have been much higher if a couple of his teammates had proven a little more opportunistic.
Still, Wallace’s night was nothing short of memorable. If he can prove similarly as dangerous down the stretch, Demopolis could make some significant noise in the area tournament.
