Update: New Era union vote set for today in Derby

The New Era Cap Company announced last Wednesday their intent to shutter their Demopolis facility after reaching a tentative agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) to retain New Era’s Derby, N.Y., plant as the company’s sole U.S. manufacturing facility.
A final agreement is contingent on the Derby employees’ ratification of a new contract. A vote will be held by Derby Union members today.
The tentative agreement came after weeks of discussions between the CWA and New Era, the company said. Employees at both plants are represented by the CWA.
The results of that vote will be posted to www.demopolistimes.com once they are made available.
