Maegen Moore of Jasper is the new Miss University of West Alabama. Moore, a junior social sciences major, will represent the 175-year-old institution in the 2010 Miss Alabama Pageant, a Miss America preliminary held this summer in Birmingham.

The daughter of Sandra and Wayne Moore, she also won the swimsuit category. Moore, who performed a jazz dance in the talent portion of the competition, will promote Fine Arts for Autism as her platform while serving as the 29th Miss UWA.

Senior Tiffany Perry of Tuscaloosa was selected as first alternate and talent winner, and freshman Julia Clare Findley of Cuba was named second alternate and People’s Choice winner. Junior Danielle Boman of Frankville received the Spirit of UWA Award.
