Sen. Richard Shelby stopped in Demopolis Saturday for a town meeting at Smokin’ Jack’s. During the meeting, Shelby discussed his stance on the economy, healthcare and federal spending.

“We’re spending and living like a kid with a credit card,” Shelby said of a federal deficit that has more than tripled in the last 20 years. “The federal deficit, in my opinion, is the number one issue facing this nation right now.”
