LIVINGSTON – Super Tiger Day, the spring homecoming that gives University of West Alabama alumni and fans a chance to return to the Livingston campus and enjoy a day of athletic events and activities, takes place Saturday, March 20.

Super Tiger Day 2010 will begin with an alumni volleyball match at 10 a.m. in Pruitt Gym. Head Coach Tabitha Turner invites former Tigers to once again compete on the court. For more information about the match, please call Turner at 205-652-3459.

The annual spring football game begins at noon at Tiger Stadium. Head Coach Bobby Wallace and his staff look to build upon an impressive 2009 campaign that led to a second round berth in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. It marked the best season for Tiger football in 34 years and left fans of the Red and White looking for even more excitement in 2010 and years to come.

Following the football scrimmage, the UWA National Alumni Association will host its annual cookout for all alumni and friends on the organization’s deck at Tartt Field from 1-3 p.m. A baseball doubleheader against Lambuth University follows at 3 p.m.

Head Coach Gary Rundles and the baseball Tigers have their sights set on a seventh consecutive trip to the Gulf South Conference Tournament and fourth NCAA trip in five seasons. The contest will be the first against the Eagles since April 14, 2008, a 12-9 victory for the Red and White at Tartt Field in the first ever meeting between the two institutions.

Finally, UWA Theatre presents “Twelfth Night,” William Shakespeare’s classic tale of jovial festivities, mistake identities, and the mystery and mayhem of love updated with a 1970s disco twist. The play begins at 8 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. UWA students are admitted free with proper ID.
