Demopolis (7-11, 2-0) picked up its second region win in as many days Tuesday evening, defeating Carver 14-1 just 24 hours after downing Selma 16-1.
Melanie McCrory and Mary Byars combined to strike out nine batters over five innings of work.
“Mary did a good job of coming in and relieving Melanie,” DHS head coach Joey Browder said. “I don’t think Melanie got the calls that she was looking for, but she did a good job maintaining her composure and I know she will continue to help us throughout the year. It’s good to have confidence in our whole pitching staff to come in and get the job done every time.”
Kristin Beach, Samantha Walker, Raylee Eubanks and Carly Latham each went 2-for-3 in the game. Freshman Sidney Colyar also stroked a triple. Lindsey Fields, Alex Crawford and Ashley Polk also recorded hits.
Demopolis plays again at home Wednesday and Thursday when it hosts Bibb County and Hale County respectively.
