Longhorns top Patrician

Marengo Academy (17-9, 9-1) stayed in the running for the region crown Tuesday with a 12-2 home victory over Patrician Academy. Matt Wallace picked up the win, pitching four innings and allowing only two hits while striking out five. Wood Collins pitched two-thirds of an inning to close out the game.
Chris Sammons went 1-for-2 with a walk and the fifth home run of the season. Weldon Fultz went 1-for-2 with a double. Chase Smyly went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Collins went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Wallace was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Michael Martin went 1-for-1 with a triple and an RBI. Matt Etheridge was 1-for-2 two RBIs. Rabe Hale walked twice. Freshman Parish Pugh recorded the first hit of his varsity career, going 1-for-1 with a walk and two RBIs.
The Longhorns will play again Thursday when they travel to Southern Academy.
