Demopolis Gateway Plaza was rocking through the weekend, thanks in large part to a grand re-opening ceremony held at Demopolis Market Place.
The longest tenured business in the recently renovated shopping strip, The Market Place recently underwent significant reconstruction.
“We added about 9,000 square feet,” store manager James Reed said of the store’s renovation. “It allowed us to expand our dairy and freezer items, but it also allowed us to expand the whole store, really. And we were able to add a deli.”
The additional square footage represents nearly one-third of the store’s previous size.
“Everybody loves it,” Reed said of the feedback he’s received. “What they really like is that we’ve been able to do all this without raising prices.”
A grand re-opening event was held Friday morning, with live music and door prizes to the first 50 customers through the door after the ribbon cutting. The ceremony and accompanying entertainment led to increased traffic, Reed noted.
“It was a lot of fun and it was a good day,” he said. “There were a lot of people here Friday…a lot of shoppers. It was a good day for us, and I think everybody enjoyed themselves.”
