Player of the Week: Emmanuel Thurman

Over the last few years, Emmanuel Thurman has become a mainstay on Demopolis’ Cal Ripken League all-star teams. Most often manning a corner infield spot, Thurman brings solid lateral mobility and a pretty reliable glove. But more than anything, Thurman is known for his big bat.
Tuesday night at the Sports-Plex, Thurman showed off that bat again with his Yankees facing elimination against the RBC Rangers. So Thurman had himself a pretty good little game.
He went 3-for-3 on the evening with two doubles, five RBIs and four runs scored.
His ridiculously productive performance included a third inning that saw him rope a pair of two-RBI doubles while helping the Yankees to a 20-9 win and a shot at the 12U championship.
That chance will come Wednesday night at 5:30 agains the Mason and Gardner Mets. And if Easy E has anything to say about it, the Yankees will force a decisive second game and work their way out of the losers bracket.
Regardless of who wins that contest, all-star teams will be announced after the games. And the smart money says that E will again be wearing Demopolis blue this summer.
