After six months of training and evaluation, Demopolis Police Officer Richard Bryant was promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective July 7.
“I am proud of Sgt. Bryant and his accomplishment,” DPD Chief Tommie Reese said.
Byrant is one of the first officers to complete a training and promotion process implemented by Reese last year.
“The process that I have started for the Police Department for and Officer to become a sergeant is, first, the officer must have a minimum of three years with the department to apply. After applying for the position he must take a written test, then complete the oral assessment center. After this done his personal file is scored, then only the top three candidates are selected to be interviewed by the Chief of Police. The person is then selected by the Chief of Police.”
Reese said the entire process takes approximately six months.
