Alabama’s Junior Miss is pleased to announce that a Local Program is being planned for Marengo County girls graduating from high school in 2011. The program will be held on September 25, 2010.
Alabama Junior Miss is a scholarship program for high school senior girls. The nationwide program recognizes, rewards, and encourages excellence among young people by focusing attention on the achievements of outstanding college-bound young women and by presenting scholarships to the top honorees. This is not a beauty pageant. Junior Miss is the largest scholarship program of its kind for college-bound young women in the United States.
At all levels – county, state, and national – the standards, format and method for evaluating the participants and selecting the representatives are the same: 25 percent for Interview; 25 percent for Talent presentation; 20 percent for Scholastic Achievement; 15 percent for Fitness (choreographed group routine); and 15 percent for Self-Expression (choreographed group routine).
County representatives will participate in the state program, held in Montgomery in January 2011. Contestants will compete for $50,000 in cash tuition scholarships and over $2.5 million in college granted scholarships.
