Families host 54th reunion in Demopolis

The Hemon-Willis-Parker-and-Mickens Family held its 54th family reunion Aug. 28 at the Demopolis City Landing. Officers for the family reunion are President Ethel Hemon Holmes, Vice President Minnie Willis Barron, Secretary Daretta McKinley, Treasurer Princilla Willis, Chaplain Rev. Lester McKinley, Newsletter Pamalar Parron, Programs by Eunice McKinley. President Ethel Holmes called the reunion to order. Devotion was led by Rev. Lester McKinley, Deacon Albert McKinley III and Minnie Parron. Welcome Vonda Hemon. Response by Shirley Turner. There was singing by Echo Gospel Singers, solos by Alvita McKinley and Katrina McGill. Fannie Willis Rodgers lit candles in remembrance of past founders. Sennie McKinley presented her mother Ethel Holmes with a gift. Pamalar Parron spoke to the family about love and forgiveness. Four generations of the Hemon family were present. Rev. Lester McKinley blessed the food. Family from far and near attnded. On Sunday the family attended the New Morning Star Baptist Church, Rev. C.L. Franklin pastor. Rev. Lester McKinley was the guest speaker. The family gave out scholarship funds and made two donations to sick family members all done in the spirit of love.
