Winter storm warning in effect
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham has issued a Winter Storm Warning through 6 p.m. due the impending arrival of ice and snow across the state. The warning issued for Marengo County was issued primarily for expected freezing rain.
Up to one inch of snow accumulation is expected Sunday night into Monday morning with up to half an inch of ice possible locally.
The NWS said the main impact of this storm will come from about 6 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday. Travel across North and Central Alabama will become difficult, if not impossible, at some point Sunday night.
