Jodie “Jo” Sylvest Tippins Vise, 97, of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Hale County Hospital in Greensboro. Born July 9, 1913 in Washington Parish in Louisiana to the late Job and Mary Ozzie Sylvest Tippins, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Turpin Vise, daughter Mary Turpin Vise, sisters Mary O. Williams and Frances “Frankie” Elizabeth Tippins and brothers Glen B. Tippins and Philip M. Tippins. Survivors include her sisters Lillie Little of Mobile, Minnie Fries of Auburn and Patricia Hudson of Panama City Beach, Fla as well as her brothers Hamlin H. Tippins of Griffin, Ga. and Rankin W. Tippins (Doris) of St. Joe, Mich. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. at her family home in Greensboro with the reverends Daniel W. Hudson (her nephew) and David O. Pierce officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greensboro United Methodist Church.
