State will repair SR 114 in Myrtlewood
MYRTLEWOOD – Work to repair flood-related landslide damage to a section of State Road 114 near Myrtlewood will begin Jan.31, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
Repairs by Carcel & G. Construction of Cullman are expected to be complete by early summer at a repair cost of approximately $873,000.
State Road 114 near mile marker 13 will remain closed to traffic until repairs are completed.
State engineers thoroughly assessed damages and studied soil and drainage issues to determine the exact cause of the slide that occurred last year. Those studies assisted engineers in designing repair plans that will help the roadway withstand similar problems or failures in the future.
