The Demopolis Quarterback Club will hold its third annual Daddy-Daughter Dance Saturday, March 5.
The event, which will take place at the Demopolis High School gym, has quickly become one of the club’s primary fundraisers during its brief tenure on the group’s calendar.
“The kids love it,” Traci Stein, who is organizing this year’s event, said. “It gets bigger every year. I look for it to continue to get bigger every year.”
This year’s version of the paternal shindig is slated to be more elaborate than its predecessors as the dance takes on a theme for the first time.
“It’s a Mardi Gras them, so they need to wear their masks,” Stein said of the event’s motif.
The 2011 version of the dance will also include a leadout.
With the addition of the leadout, organizers have found room for mothers to witness a portion of the festivities for the first time.
For a $5 admission charge, mothers will be allowed to watch the leadout and the first dance before the doors close to everyone other than the dancers.
“I think we raised $2,500 last year,” Stein said of the event’s previous success.
Doors will open for the event at 6 p.m. with leadout scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The dance is scheduled to run until 9 p.m.
All tickets must be purchased at the door as admits will not be sold in advance.
Cost is $25 per father figure in attendance.
