The 95th Annual Meeting of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce will be held Feb. 28 at the Demopolis Civic Center.

This year’s keynote speaker will be a familiar face to most attendees.

Mickey Dean, a Birmingham-based comedian, was the headliner of last year’s annual event but suffered a medical emergency shortly after his act began.

Dean cut his act short and left the facility, but unknown to many of those in attendance Dean would spend the next several days in a Birmingham hospital.

“Under normal circumstances, Mickey Dean is very funny and very entertaining,” Chamber Board member Diane Brooker said. “We’re glad to have him back and look forward to what will be a great night of entertainment.”

As in years past, a silent auction will be among the event’s cornerstones. Items up for bid include the works of local artists, an Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Flat screen television and a guided turkey hunt among other things.

Heavy Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Tickets are $35 each and are available through chamber board members or from the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce by calling 289-0270.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

Awards for Citizen and Business of the Year will also be awarded.
