History comes alive if you let it

Marengo County is awash in history. Not the “old and boring” kind. The really cool stuff.
The backbone in that history is the Marengo County Historical Society, who works to not only keep history alive but to keep the doors of history open; namely Bluff Hall and Lyon Hall.
Throughout the year the group will hold several activities that both raise awareness of local history and provide an opportunity to get involved, see it in action and to see it first hand.
Two good examples are the Black History program, which was held earlier this week, and the Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball. Understanding your history is an important step in personal growth. Helping others understand it and keeping it alive is a big step in cultural growth. Our thanks to the Historical Society who work so hard to keep local history alive and relevant.
